About Mandrare River Camp:
Set on the banks of the Mandrare River, overlooking the sacred community forests of the Antandroy Tribe, the camp offers luxury tented accommodation in a stunning setting, great wildlife & culture, combined with excellent guiding, activities and food. Explore the otherworldly Spiny Forests, encounter countless endemic species including Ring Tailed lemurs and Verreaux's Sifakas and meet the fiercely independent Antandroy tribe.
As the sun rises over rugged mountains, the distant singing of the local tribe as they fetch water from the river and the morning calls of the Coucal and Crested Coua welcome you to another glorious day on the banks of the Mandrare River.

LODGE INFORMATION

Set overlooking the river and a golden sunrise, our fully equipped, bespoke tents allow you to relax, sleep well and invigorate your soul.

The ornate wooden furniture in each tent is individually hand carved to depict a different local wildlife theme: Chameleon, Lemur, Gecko, Baobab, Radiated Tortoise and Heron.

Each of the 6 tents offers:

  • Private terrace with chairs and table

Relax to a delicious dinner with luxurious foods on the banks of the Mandrare River.

You will dine together around hand carved pallisandre tables in the warm glow of hurricane lamps. The singing of children by the river, accompanied by the calls of birds and other forest animals, are the perfect serenade as you enjoy our exquisite food.

Enjoy breakfasts of freshly baked bread, pain au chocolat and croissants, local made preserves, cereals and fresh fruit juices.

Lunch is a succulent barbeque with fresh salads, fruits and cold meats. A sumptuous 3-course dinner awaits you in the evening, a truly heavenly bush experience.

We use the freshest and finest Malagasy produce, blended in a French style by our excellent chefs.

All drinks in camp, including imported wines and spirits, are complimentary.

Whether by day or night, on foot or by 4x4, the abundance of wildlife is a revelation. Our experienced guides will teach you their knowledge of the unique flora and fauna of the Gallery and Spiny forests.
